An Estes Park tradition
Held annually on the first Saturday every May, the Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Festival is a favorite. Locals and visitors of all ages come to the festival — and it’s been a tradition in our town since 1989. The Rotary Club of Estes Park organizes the race every year and handles everything from the finances to administration. The goal is to donate as much as possible to charities.
How the Estes Park Duck Race works
For those who want to participate in the race (and who wouldn’t) it’s 20 bucks to “adopt” a duck. ($22 if you adopt online.) Of that cost, $19 goes to the charities or groups YOU select when you adopt. The duck race raised $128,000 last year for charities, so you know your money is supporting the organizations you choose.
Why you should adopt a duck
Back to your adopted duck. It’s really a little yellow duck, and it will race down Estes Park’s Fall River on the day of the event! Besides all the fun you’ll have, there are prizes too — donated by sponsors of the event. You can see the sponsors of the Duck Race and prize information here, and keep in mind that hundreds of merchant prizes are donated every year as well.
